Oil Painting on Paper

I've been working on a series of small paintings on 300gsm paper, mostly in oil with one or two acrylics. Some of these were developed from work in my sketchbook, while others are purely from the imagination. This is a lovely thing to do alongside my paintings on canvas, which are often much larger. I hope you like them - there are more to see in the Gallery on my website.

I used a palette knife for most of these and

love the resulting thick, textural effect and linear mark making. I think this sits well with the bold colours I used.

The nautical theme keeps cropping up in my paintings, based on the beautiful scenery of the North Norfolk coast. The paintings are usually close to abstraction, some more than others.
