I did a series of large ink and stick sketches on this beach in St Ives, Cornwall and used them as a starting point for this painting back in my studio. The colours I used were heavily influenced by the special quality of the light in St Ives and the extraordinary colours of the water, even on a blustery March day. Oil on canvas, 24” x 30”
