A very large painting (1m x 1.2m on canvas) I created after kayaking over a massive spring tide on the North Norfolk coast. On these super-high tides the water rushes in extremely fast and it is really exhilarating to be swept upstream. This time I explored some unknown creeks and got completely lost, but after a while water covered the whole area and I was able to paddle straight back across the marsh to the harbour, with glimpses of marsh plants below me like an underwater garden. Near the top of the tide everything went almost still and I made it back to my boat before all that water began to rush out again. This is my memory of that still moment.
