The Shape of Summer explores the patterns and rhythms that emerge as flowers grow together through the season. Rather than depicting individual plants, the painting captures the essence of a garden alive with colour, movement and shifting light.
Built from layers of translucent paint and gestural marks, recognisable forms dissolve into an impression of warmth and abundance. It is less a portrait of a place than a memory of being surrounded by flowers on a still summer day, when colour, scent and sunlight become inseparable.
Oil on canvas, 100cm x 75cm
